Doctor of the law


Greek: νομοδιδασκαλος [nomodidaskalos] (Noun masculine). From νομος [nomos] "law", and διδασκαλος [didaskalos] "an instructor", "a doctor", "a master", "a teacher" (word related with διδασκαλια [didaskalia] "teaching", "instruction", "doctrine") = A teacher of the law. Doctor of the law. ("doctor", from latin doctor: "a teacher", "an instructor").

νομοδιδασκαλος [nomodidaskalos] appears 3 times in the NT:


(1) Luke 5: 17
And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judaea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was [present] to heal them. - νομοδιδασκαλοι [nomodidaskaloi] Nom. pl.

(2) Acts 5: 34
