Perhaps the translation "sister's son" in the KJV, reflects the text of the Vulgate, "consobrinus", that although could mean "sister's son", means "cousin": “salutat vos Aristarchus concaptivus meus et Marcus consobrinus Barnabae de quo accepistis mandata si venerit ad vos excipite illum”.
In a restricted sense, consobrinus is the designation of the children of two sisters: a mother's sister's son - sons or daughters- ; but more frequently consobrinus is used of all cousins, the children of brothers or sisters.
