To agree


Greek: συντιθημι [suntithêmi] (Verb). From συν [sun] and τιθημι [tithêmi]: to place jointly, to put together with, to place together. To place in one's mind, to resolve, determine. To make an arrangement, to engage. To assent to, to agree to. See: διαθηκη [diathêkê] .

συντιθημι [suntithêmi] appears 4 times in the NT:


(1) Luke 22: 5
And they were glad, and covenanted to give him money. - συνεθεντο [sunethento] Aorist Indicative Middle, 3 pl.

(2) John 9: 22
These [words] spake his parents, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man did confess that he was Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue. - συνετεθειντο [sunetetheinto] Pluperfect Indicative Middle, 3 pl.

(3) Acts 23: 20
And he said, The Jews have agreed to desire thee that thou wouldest bring down Paul to morrow into the council, as though they would enquire somewhat of him more perfectly. - συνεθεντο [sunethento] Aorist Indicative Middle, 3 pl.

(4) Acts 24: 9 [Variant]
And the Jews also assented, saying that these things were so. - συνεθεντο [sunethento] Aorist Indicative Middle, 3 pl. / Variant: συνεπεθεντο [sunepethento] Aorist Indicative Middle, 3 pl. (συνεπιτιθημι [sunepitithêmi]).
