Race


Greek: γενος [genos] (Noun neuter). Race, stock, kin. Clan, house, family, people, nation. Descendant. Generation. Age, time of life. A class, sort, kind.

γενος [genos] appears 21 times in the NT:


(1) Matthew 13: 47
Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind: - γενους [genous] Gen. sing. ("of every kind" - εκ παντος γενους [ek pantos genous]).

(2) Matthew 17: 21 [Variant]
Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting. - το γενος [to genos] Nom. sing.

(3) Mark 7: 26
The woman was a Greek, a Syrophenician by nation; and she besought him that he would cast forth the devil out of her daughter. - τω γενει [tô genei] Dat. sing. ("a Syrophenician by nation" - συροφοινικισσα τω γενει [surophoinikissa tô genei]).

(4) Mark 9: 29
And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting. - το γενος [to genos] Nom. sing.
