Abyss


Greek: αβυσσος [abussos] (Noun Feminine). An abyss, the deep, bottomless pit, the immeasurable depth.

αβυσσος [abussos] appears 9 times in the NT:

- bottomless - 2
- bottomless pit - 5
- deep - 2

(1) Luke 8: 31
And they besought him that he would not command them to go out into the deep. - εις την αβυσσον [eis tên abusson] Accus. sing.

(2) Romans 10: 7
Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.) - εις την αβυσσον [eis tên abusson] Accus. sing.

(3) Revelation 9: 1
