Greek: διαλεκτος [dialektos] (Noun feminine). Language, tongue, speech, dialect.

διαλεκτος [dialektos] appears 6 times in the NT:


(1) Acts 1: 19
And it was known unto all the dwellers at Jerusalem; insomuch as that field is called in their proper tongue, Aceldama, that is to say, The field of blood. - τη διαλεκτω [tê dialektô] Dat. sing. ("in their proper tongue" - τη ιδια διαλεκτω αυτων [tê idia dialektô autôn] Lit: "in the own dialect of them").

(2) Acts 2: 6
Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language. - τη διαλεκτω [tê dialektô] Dat. sing. ("in his proper tongue" - τη ιδια διαλεκτω αυτων [tê idia dialektô autôn] Lit: "in the own dialect of them").

(3) Acts 2: 8
