To baptize


Greek: βαπτιζω [baptizô] (Verb). To immerse, to submerge, to wash.

βαπτιζω [baptizô] appears 81 times in the NT:

(1) Matthew 3: 6
And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins. - εβαπτιζοντο [ebaptizonto] Imperfect Indicative Passive, 3 pl.

(2 - 3) Matthew 3: 11
I indeed baptize¹ you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize² you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire: - ¹βαπτιζω [baptizô] Present Indicative Active, 1 sing. ²βαπτισει [baptisei] Future Indicative Active, 3 sing.
